The investment capital and the time the project will be kicked off were not announced. The project is also part of a plan to develop the Van Don Economic Zone.
Quang Ninh will also build Van Hoa port with an annual capacity of one million tons of cargo, Van Tien Bridge to link Van Don with Tien Yen district, and a road and bridge leading to the Van Don economic zone from the Ha Long-Mong Cai expressway.
The province hopes to develop Van Don and Bai Tu Long Bay into an ecological tourist resort, an international aviation center, as well as a qualified service center.
