The central province of Thua Thien-Hue approved the plan to develop 18 industrial complexes from now to 2015 with a total area of 821ha, State media reported.
The complexes, to be located along National Highway No1, will focus on developing agro-fishery-forestry, seafood and foodstuff processing, construction material production, minerals exploitations, garment and textiles, footwear, mechanics, transport, traditional handicraft products and warehouse services.
At present, the local Phu Bai Industrial Park (IP) has attracted 30 projects from both domestic and foreign investors worth a combined registered capital of VND1.44 trillion ($90.5 million), including three foreign-owned projects costing $3.475 million.
Ten of the projects have come into operation, while seven others are under construction.
The province has poured about VND15 billion into upgrading Phu Bai IP’s infrastructure and raising the IP area by 98ha.
The Huda Brewery, whose construction kicked off in late 2006, was the largest project in the IP in the year with investment capital of VND293 billion and a designed annual capacity of 100 million liters of beer. (Vietnam & World Economy)
