Six foreign investors, including Japan’s Riviera and South Korea's Keangnam, have registered to invest in building a five-star hotel near the National Convention Center in Hanoi's outlying Tu Liem district.
Total capital for the construction has not been reported at the moment.
The hotel will bring the total number of five-star hotels in Hanoi to ten, easing city’s the shortage of luxury hotel rooms for tourists.
Both the Japanese and South Korean groups intend to spend US$500 million on building 500 hotel rooms and 200 offices for lease.
The Hanoi People's Committee has asked the Prime Minister for suggestions regarding selection of project tenders.
Hanoi now has more than 400 hotels, including 100 hotels of one to five star standards. Its nine five-star hotels are the Sofitel Metropole Hotel, Daewoo Hotel, Somerset West Lake, Nikko Hotel, Sofitel Plaza Hanoi, Hilton Hotel, Horison Hotel, Melia Hanoi, and Sheraton Hanoi Hotel. (VNA)
