Hanoi People's Committee has given the green light to Vietnam Construction Import-Export Joint Stock Corporation (Vinaconex JSC) to invest over VND1 trillion (US$62.5 million) in upgrading Cho Mo market into a trade center, local media reported.

The center covering 14,168 square meters will have three buildings, including two with 15 storeys each and another with 20 storeys.

Cho Mo trade center is expected to be operational in 2010.

This upgrade is under the city's plan to develop 13 markets in the inner city into trade centers, aiming to expand and modernize the local distribution network.

By mid-2007, the capital city had three trade centers and 43 supermarkets, said the Hanoi Industry and Trade Department. (baomoi.com)
