Authorities of central Binh Thuan province have given a nod to the domestic firm Thien Hai to carry out a tourism project costing US$100 million, according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism.
The company will build the tourism complex of house villas, a three to five-star hotel, entertainment facilities and other services in Long Son quarter in Mui Ne of Phan Thiet City, where is home to many resorts.
The department said construction on the 107-hectare complex, one of the biggest tourism projects in the province, will be kicked off within the next 12 months.
Separately, the Hong Kong-based Polo Beach International Limited early this year submitted a plan to build a 943-hectare tourism complex called Cali Beach worth US$3.5 billion in Bac Binh district.
By the middle of last April, the province had licensed 403 tourism projects valued at VND19.4 trillion (US$1.2 billion), including 208 projects of VND8.2 trillion in Phan Thiet city.
Binh Thuan expects to greet two million local and foreign tourists this year, up by 200,000 from 2007, with revenue of VND1.2 trillion. (Saigon Times Daily)
