With its favourable traffic system, infrastructure and services, specially its location adjacent to Da Nang City, Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Park has become an ideal destination for domestic and foreign investors. At present, tenants in the industrial park not only provide thousands of jobs, improve the economy and enhance the life quality for local people, but also help accelerate economic restructuring and build up growth momentum for Quang Nam province in the future.
Assuring investors
Situated in a convenient location, adjacent to Da Nang City, Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Park has great advantages in transportation such as being adjacent to Da Nang International Airport, Tien Sa Deep-water Port, Trans-Asia Highway, National Highway 1A, National Highway 14, and Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway. Geological features are very good for construction; thus, construction costs are lower than other industrial zones. Especially, Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Park possesses a complete infrastructure system for investors such as internal roads, communication facilities, power supply network, water supply plant as well as good services like banking, security and customs.
At present, Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Park is housing 65 domestic and foreign investment projects which have registered to invest a total of more than VND3 trillion (US$130 million) and US$400 million and employed about 27,000 workers. The production value from tenants here accounts for 20 per cent of the province’s gross industrial production value and the export value makes up for more than 35 per cent of the province’s total export value, thus making significant contributions to socio-economic development of the northern region of Quang Nam province. Especially, the industrial park has helped form synchronous technical infrastructure and turn an abandoned region into a dynamic and modern industrial and urban area.
Mr Dang Thanh Trung from Technical Planning Department, Quang Nam - Da Nang Urban & Industrial Zone Development Joint Stock Company (UID) - the investor of Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Park, said that the occupancy rate has reached 85 per cent of rentable area in the first phase of development while the available area for the second phase is not much. As it cannot expand the administrative boundary (the development plan approved by the Government includes a surrounding urban area), UID focuses on completing the infrastructure system to draw projects using advanced technologies and employing not many workers but generating high added value and causing less environmental pollution. “In the coming time, UID will focus on planning small land plots and unrented areas to attract small investors and supporting industries from Japan. On the other hand, we will coordinate with provincial authorities to review and intensify inspection and supervision of investment, environment and fire prevention among other works to sustain the development of Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Park and assure investors,” he said.
Proactive in environmental protection
Environmental protection is always a matter of serious concern of UID. The company invested to build a centralised wastewater treatment system with a daily capacity of 5,000 cubic metres which has been put into operation since 2009. Wastewater discharged from factories is collected, connected and transferred to the standard central processing system (at least meeting Standard B - QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT) before being released to the environment.
In addition to functioning the wastewater treatment system well, UID also regularly replants and tends green trees and lawns which cover more than 15 per cent of the area to reduce dust and noise and minimise environmental pollution in general. In addition, UID set up a professional sanitary department to regularly cleanse roads and sidewalks and guide tenants to collect, store and search waste.
In the past time, Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Park has been named “bright - green - clean - nice” industrial park and the most sustainable and effective business destination for investors by authorities when they inspect it. It is also important that people living around the industrial park feel assured of comfortable livelihoods. Surrounding residents have never filed any claims about environmental pollution. In recognition of its endeavours, UID was presented the Environment Award by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in 2011 and certified to satisfy green environment criteria by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment in 2013.
