The Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the authority of central Khanh Hoa province recently started the construction of the Hoa Son Water Reservoir with a total capital of VND286 billion (US$18.1 million) in local Van Ninh district.
The work in Van Long commune, 900 meters in length and 28.5 meter in depth, has a total storage capacity of 19.18 million cubic meters.
As designed, it will be able to supply 9,500 cubic meters of water daily to the Tu Bong new urban area, townships of Van Gia, Dong Mon and Tan Dan in the Van Phong Bay Economic Zone.
The reservoir’s operation will benefit 35,000 local people and pump water to 2,400 ha of agricultural land and aquatic breeding areas, generating jobs for locals and improving their living standards
The reservoir will be built nearby the Can River and is due to be put into use in 2010.
