Industrial Parks: Ladder to Success of Investors in Binh Thuan Province

Up to now, industry has not been a cutting-edge economic sector of Binh Thuan province. Binh Thuan, however, has advantages to help its industry develop in the future and currently existing industrial parks (IPs) in the area are evidence for this.
 
As of the end of 2008, Binh Thuan province is home to six IPs with a total area of 2,853 hectares, four of which were invested in and constructed on an area of 668 hectares. The other two IPs are having their investment procedures conducted and will be constructed within this year.
 
PHAN THIET IP
This is an IP constructed at Ham Liem commune, Ham Thuan Bac district and Phong Nam commune, Phan Thiet City. It is situated right at the the crossroad of National Roal 1A and National Road 28, 200km away from Ho Chi Minh City. Phan Thiet IP at the first phase is the province’s first small-scaled IP which was approved by the Government on 11 September 1998. Up to now, the IP has its technical infrastructure system invested in, meeting production and business demand of enterprises operating within the IP, attracting 27 projects (five of which have foreign invested capital) with a total registered capital of VND357.66 billion and US$28.554 million. Of the above projects, 22 have started operating, and five are having basic construction conducted, preparing for the project to start. According to the management board of the IP, enterprises at the IP are operating quite effectively. Figures of turnover, export and payment to budget state of the following year are always higher than the year ahead. As of 2008, total turnover of enterprises in Phan Thiet IP 1 reached VND1,530 billion, up 18.35 percent, and export turnover, US$31.2 billion, up 19 percent.
 
HAM KIEM IP NO.1
This IP is located in Ham My commune and Ham Kiem commune, Ham Thuan Nam district, Binh Thuan province, next to to National Road 1A, and 9.5km from the heart of Phan Thiet City, 5km from Muong Man station, 190km from Ho Chi Minh City and 260km from Nha Trang City. The IP is situated on an area of 143.02 hectares. The total investment capital for technical infrastructure system is estimated to amount to VND176.996 billion. Ham Kiem IP No. 1 was constructed on 28 February 2008. It is currently calling for investment and plans to fulfill the IP by 2010.
 
HAM KIEM IP NO. II
The IP is located on an area of 433.26 hectares, next to Ham Kiem IP No. I. The total investment capital for the technical infrastructure system is VND475.86 billion. The IP’s construction started on 28 February 2008. It is currently calling for investors to make investment in the IP. Up to now, there have been two investment projects which register for an area of 200 hectares. According to the management unit of the IP, this IP is planned to be fulfilled by 2012. The technical infrastructure system will be built comprehensively, guaranteeing standards of a modern IP.
 
Apart from the above-mentioned IPs, there are some other IPs which are having their master plans made, including:
 
TAN DUC IP
This IP is located in Tan Duc commune, Ham Tan district, Binh Thuan province, and borders Dong Nai. Tan Duc IP is an IP approved to be added to IP development plan by the Government. This IP is planned to start construction in 2009-2010 and completed in 2015. Tan Duc IP has a synchronous technical infrastructure system, meeting standards of a modern IP.
 
SON MY INDUSTRY – SERVICE COMPLEX
Being a large-scale complex, Son My industry – service complex is divided into two areas, namely Son My IP No. 1 on an area of 1,256.8 hectares and Son My IP No. 2 on an area of 1,318.8 hectares. This is a complex in Son My commune, Ham Tan district, Binh Thuan province. It is situated next to National Road 55, 17km away from the center of LaGi town, 90km away from PHan Thiet City, about 150km away from Ho Chi Minh City, 60-70km from Vung Tau and Thi Vai ports, and 60km from Ke Ga port. The estimated investment capital for the complex is VND3,000 billion.
 
TUY PHONG IP
The IP is located in Vinh Hao commune, Tuy Phong district, next to National Road 1A, 7km away from Long Song river station, 1.8 km away from the district center and 100 km away from Phan Thiet City. The IP is on an area of 150 hectares. With an estimated investment capital of VND160 billion, this IP will be constructed in 2009-2010. Once put into operation, industries which will be prioritized include purified water production, the making of seaweed products, chemicals after salt production, the making of Bentonit clay products, and the processing of seafood and agricultural products. The management board of Binh Thuan IPs is currently having the detailed master plan made and calling for investors from all economic sectors who have capital and experience. The resident and service area catering for the IP will also be constructed on an area of 50 hectares, concurrently with the IP’s formation.
