First Wind Power Plant Opens in Binh Thuan

Vietnam Recyclable Energy Joint-Stock Company (REVN) and the People’s Committee of Binh Thuan province inaugurated the first wind-to-power plant in Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan province on April 18, 2012.
 
The plant, powered by 20 wind turbines in the first phase with a total capacity of 30 MW, was kicked off in March 2008. Most items were built locally. This is the first wind power project in the country to be connected to the national grid. To date, it has general 90 million KWh of electricity.
 
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hailed the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Binh Thuan People’s Committee, and Vietnam Recyclable Energy Joint-Stock Company (REVN) for their effort to bring the first wind power plant into operation.
He asserted that the project has great significance in using clean energy to protect the environment - a top concern of the Party, the State and the Government.
