Hanoi is building two more upscale hotels in new urban areas in a move to meet the higher demand of tourists flocking to the city during the upcoming APEC summit.

The first, a 6,200-sq.m five-star hotel will be built in an urban area in Tran Duy Hung Street of Cau Giay and Thanh Xuan districts.

Additionally, a four-star hotel at Le Duc Tho Street, near the National My Dinh Stadium, will be built, covering 23,200 sq.m.

For the APEC meetings, 19 hotels in Hanoi have been selected by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide accommodation and other services. These hotels have been required to refuse non-related room bookings for two weeks in middle of November during the APEC meetings.

Hanoi is now calling for investment in building new upscale hotels in other urban areas to meet the development of the city's services and tourism sector.

At present, Hanoi has eight five-star, five four-star and 22 three-star hotels. However, the city still reports a shortage of high quality hotel rooms and cannot meet its tourism development plan, especially when the city needs to host important international events.
