Vietnam’s finest craftsmen from traditional craft villages all around the northern region will showcase their products during a five-day handicraft and gift fair to be held in Hanoi early next month.
The fair is co-organized by HCMC Cooperative Alliance, Vietnam Trade Fair and Advertising Company in conjunction with Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper.
The show is being billed as a festival that will charm tourists and help to boost trade and investment into the nation’s many handicraft villages.
It also helps to contribute to the marketing efforts of traditional and minority cultural specialties, and provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and co-promotional campaigns amongst the many artisans who will be attending from all over the country.
Trinh Thang, head of the Organizing Committee, said that the fair has attracted more than 40 exhibitors who will participate in the event, displaying their products and demonstrating the intricate manufacturing processes required from some 180 booths.
Last year’s inaugural expo in HCMC attracted some 37 domestic and foreign exhibitors who occupied some 308 booths. Around 82 memorandums of understanding were signed at the fair.
Vietnam now has more than 100 handicraft products that are made in over 2,000 craft villages and the handicraft sector is aiming at annual export revenue of US$660 million by 2010.
The fair is taking place from 12 to 17 December at Vietnam Exhibition and Fair Centre in Giang Vo street, Ba Dinh district.
