The Vietnam Chemical Corporation, the Vietnam Rubber Group and the 15 General Company are asking for permission from central highlands Gia Lai province to implement a US$150 million project to process rubber products.
The factory, on 35ha in Gia Lai Western IZ, is expected to have total capacity of 2 million tons per year.
Once approved, the project will be biggest industrial project in Gia Lai, aiming to use the central highlands’ plentiful rubber sources.
Vietnam, as of late 2006, has 495,000 hectares of rubber plantation, mostly in the southeastern, central highlands and central regions. Last year, the country produced 500,000 tons of rubber products. (Pioneer)
