Vietnam Medi Pharm 2008 to Open in Hanoi late May

The Vietnam International Medical and Pharmaceutical Exhibition (Vietnam Medi Pharm 2008), the biggest of its kind so far, will take place in Hanoi Friendship Cultural Palace from May 21 to 24, the Vietnam Economic Times newspaper reported.
 
The four-day event will draw attention of 450 domestic and foreign pharmaceutical companies with 450 booths, including 250 of the domestic ones.
 
Most of the foreign participants are famous pharmaceutical producers from China, Pakistan, India, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, the U.S., Sweden, Holland, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
 
The exhibition aims to introduce the most advanced medical achievements, medications and technology coming out of Vietnam, and from the world’s prestigious medical firms.
 
Currently, Vietnam has to import 65 per cent of its medicines from foreign companies, nearly 60 per cent of the medicine available on the Vietnamese market is imported from South Korea, India, China, Britain, France or the United States.
 
The domestic pharmaceutical sector plans to meet 60 per cent of local demand by 2010. (Vietnam Economic Times)
