Determining that the protection of legitimate rights and interests of employees and taking care of employees' lives is a key task, over the past time, the Labor Confederation of Thai Nguyen province has directed Trade unions at all levels to implement many effective programs and activities, ensuring a harmonious labor relationship in agencies, units and enterprises.
According to the report of the Labor Confederation of Labor, at present, the whole province has over 230,000 workers, officials and laborers, of which, there are 176,425 workers, officials and laborers directly managed by the province with 155,898 union members in 1,383 grassroots unions. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, especially during the social distancing period, many businesses had to suspend operations or reduce production, leading to many difficulties in the employment and life of the majority of employees.
Faced with that situation, the Provincial Labor Confederation has promptly stepped in, so employees are always assured of production labor. The Provincial Labor Confederation has performed the work of taking care of the material and spiritual life of employees through the program of Tet Gathering, Workers' Month; supporting the construction of the Union Shelter; supporting loans for workers for economic development; and maintaining cooperation agreements on improving welfare for union members and employees.
Accordingly, the unit has awarded over 140,000 gifts worth over VND 50 billion to employees, built 78 trade union shelters and gratitude houses with a total amount of VND 4.3 billion, disbursed VND 2,032 billion to 44 households, created jobs and at the same time maintained a good cooperation agreement with 26 partners on implementing a program to improve welfare for trade union members. Units and enterprises have actively coordinated with the provincial Labor Confederation to implement supporting activities and preferential programs with more than 10,000 union members and employees benefiting a total amount of over VND2.2 billion.
In addition, the Provincial Labor Confederation also has many activities to support union members, workers and laborers affected by the COVID-19 epidemic and the frontline force against the COVID-19 epidemic with a total amount of over 21 billion VND. In which, according to Decision 2606/QD-TLD dated May 19, 2021; Decision 3040/QD-TLD, the Provincial Labor Confederation has spent over VND 4 billion for 4,860 union members, employees and 260 collectives. The Provincial Labor Confederation has supported union members and employees in the province and people of 5 provinces including Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Dong Nai, with over VND 822 million (as of December 10, 2021). It has also implemented propaganda and education among employees, patriotic emulation and commendation movements, etc, thereby contributing together with the whole province to realize the dual goals of socio-economic development and effective COVID-19 prevention and control.
In 2022, determining that there will still be many difficulties due to the impacts of the epidemic, Thai Nguyen Labor Confederation will continue to direct trade unions at all levels to implement and perform well the key tasks of Trade Union activities in 2022 with the theme " Take care of jobs and life for employees; strive to achieve the highest goals and tasks of the Resolution of the 16th Provincial Trade Union Congress and the 12th Vietnam Trade Union Congress. Along with that is the coordination activities of functional branches to inspect and check the observance of labor laws in enterprises; direct trade unions at all levels to actively coordinate with authorities and employers to promote and improve the effectiveness of the implementation of grassroots democracy regulations; especially to coordinate in organizing conferences of cadres, civil servants and public employees and the the employee conference in 2022.
