The central highlands province of Lam Dong held a conference in Ho Chi Minh City on November 21 to seek investment of US$200 million for 28 projects, State media said.
The province is now seeking investment capital into 11 tourism and service projects, 12 industrial projects, and three agricultural and forestry production projects.
Of which, a project to develop a 340 ha resort and entertainment complex in Dalat City will require VND830 billion (US$52.5 million).
Another big project to develop infrastructure in a 100-ha residential area in Dalat will need VND1,010 billion ($64 million). The residential area will have seven apartment buildings and 806 villas.
The province also called for investment into dairies and other plants for manufacturing animal feed, tea, coffee, fruit processing, and hi-tech vegetable and flower production.
During the conference, which attracted 250 local and foreign investors, the province granted some licenses. Among them was an investment license to HCM City-based Tri Viet Joint-stock Company to develop 23.5 ha at beautiful Tuyen Lam Lake in Dalat into a eco-tourism park with total investment capital of VND188 billion ($11.9 million).
From early 2003, the province has licensed 233 projects capitalized at VND4,272 billion ($270 million). Up to 95 per cent of these projects are in the tourism and services sector.
Lam Dong is to finish upgrading Lien Khuong Airport in the middle of next year to handle larger airplanes and to open international air services. It is also seeking to turn the Dalat-Dau Giay T-junction into an expressway, thus shortening the travel time between HCM City and Dalat to around three hours, according to provincial chairman Huynh Duc Hoa.
Lam Dong, 308 km from HCM City, is famous nationwide for its capital city of Dalat, which is extremely hilly, offers a harmonious combination of natural scenery and historical sites and has a cool climate. The city is decorated with a vast variety of beautiful flowers such as rhododendron, cherry, dahlia, daisy, hydrangea, mimosa and rose.
