The State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC) has recently clinched a deal to invest nearly VND500 billion (US$29.585 million) into Quang Ninh thermal power project in northern Quang Ninh province.
The 1,200-MW Quang Ninh power project costs a total of nearly US$1.2 billion with the state-owned Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) being the investor.
Major shareholders include the state-owned Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) and the Vietnam Construction and Import-Export Joint Stock Corporation (Vinaconex).
The project includes Quang Ninh 1 and Quang Ninh 2 plants, each of which has two 300-MW turbines.
The project expects a power output of 7.2 billion kWh per year.
The 300-MW turbine 1 of the Quang Ninh 1 plant was put into operation on May 12. (Investment)
