After more than 20 years of development, PTSC Quang Ngai Joint Stock Company has increasingly grown in all aspects and confidently affirmed its stature and brand position.
Affirming the brand position
Starting from the delivery of oil and gas services, PTSC Quang Ngai has so far conducted major mechanical processing and manufacturing services and taken the lead in providing installation services for oil and gas projects in the central region such as Dung Quat oil refinery, Dung Quat polypropylene plant, Nghi Son oil refinery, and Long Phu thermal power plant. Over time, the position and strength of PTSC Quang Ngai has been increasingly affirmed. Many equipment manufacturing contracts signed with other countries like the Philippines, Nigeria, India, Japan and the United States have been completed and exported through Dung Quat Port. Many global brands such as Samsung (South Korea), Technip (France) and Batec (Australia) have come to PTSC Quang Ngai to cooperate in joint ventures and open up great prospects of manufacturing mechanical equipment for export to third countries.
After more than 20 years of operation, PTSC Quang Ngai invested over VND220 billion to expand Wharf No. 1 of Dung Quat Port to receive vessels of 70,000 DWT; more than VND163 billion to build an integrated petroleum service area covering over 80,000 square meters of factories, warehouses, and steel structures, enabling the company to successfully carry out many large-scale and deploy maintenance and repair services for Dung Quat oil refinery; and over VND500 billion to in three specialized oil and gas service vessels to cater towage service, oil spill response service, security and maintenance service of Dung Quat oil refinery. Especially in 2018, PTSC Quang Ngai spent nearly VND400 billion to upgrade Wharf No. 2 of Dung Quat Port to accommodate two ships at the same time vessels of 5,000 DWT. When Wharf No. 2 comes into operation in late 2019, PTSC Quang Ngai will boost container cargo freighting from domestic feeder services to transshipment in Asia. The company planned to open intercontinental container routes.
Further support from local authorities needed
While upgrading Wharf No. 2, PTSC Quang Ngai found that enhancing competitiveness and grasping the opportunity to join large projects in the coming time in Dung Quat Economic Zone and neighboring provinces, expanding mechanical workshops with port logistics is very important and necessary. Therefore, the company has actively worked with local authorities of Quang Ngai province to seek investment locations for Dung Quat Petroleum Service and Petroleum Port Area Project covering a total area of about 24.8 ha. The Dung Quat Economic Zone and Quang Ngai Industrial Parks Authority approved to grant 13.4 ha (mechanical workshop area) under Document 696/BQL-QLDT dated May 11, 2018.
However, the authority has not granted the remaining area of 11.4 ha (port area) in the Dung Quat Petroleum Port and Petroleum Service Base Project although the Standing Board of the Provincial Party Committee recently instructed it to approve this investment plan for PTSC Quang Ngai. “If we cannot have 11.4 ha with a 200-meter coastline for wharf construction (connected to the existing mechanical engineering zone of PTSC), we cannot develop mechanical processing services for heavy industries, export-driven engineering products and provide port services for oil and gas contractors intending to invest in Dung Quat Economic Zone and the central region,” Mr. Pham Van Hung, Director of PTSC Quang Ngai, said.
The expansion investment for Dung Quat petroleum port and mechanical service base completely matches development orientations and strategies of PTSC Quang Ngai, PTSC Corporation, Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group and Quang Ngai province. This project is the premise for successful development of mechanical engineering workshop. Mechanical services in association with the petroleum port base will enable PTSC Quang Ngai to reach out to the vast sea because the company always imports high-volume materials for manufacturing oversize, overweight products for export.
Therefore, PTSC Quang Ngai desperately needs support and assistance from PetroVietnam Group and Quang Ngai authorities to further meet development requirements of PetroVietnam and Quang Ngai province.
