Through livestream sessions, OCOP products from Thuong Tin Commune have not only gained an additional sales channel for businesses and cooperatives but are also being brought into the digital space, gradually establishing a modern approach to trade promotion and developing the digital economy.

Weekly Livestream Sessions

Home to 11 traditional craft villages, Thuong Tin Commune has recently implemented digital transformation in economic development and is gradually bringing craft village products into the digital space. Instead of relying solely on trade fairs and traditional distribution channels, the commune has chosen livestreaming to promote products while providing guidance and support for businesses to list their goods on e-commerce platforms.

In August 2026 alone, the Thuong Tin Commune People's Committee organized four livestream sessions introducing blankets, bed sheets, pillows and mattresses from Trat Cau Village; wood carving products and horn combs from Thuy Ung craft village; and wooden products from Nhi Khe craft village, among others. The activities were part of the implementation plan for Hanoi's and Thuong Tin Commune's 100-day peak campaign on digital transformation, aimed at promoting the application of digital technology in trade promotion and local economic development.

A notable feature of the program is the participation of local authorities alongside businesses. In particular, Vice Chairman of the Thuong Tin Commune People's Committee Nguyen Van Tan regularly appears on livestreams to promote production processes and product quality, while sharing development orientations for OCOP products associated with digital transformation and expanding sales markets through online platforms.

In a single livestream on August 27, the program attracted 8,403 views, 418 comments and hundreds of shares and other interactions. Many questions about production processes, product uses and how to use the products were answered immediately by businesses and commune officials during the program, helping increase transparency and build consumer confidence. The four livestream sessions attracted tens of thousands of interactions and comments, while the number of customers placing orders gradually increased. On August 27 alone, 52 orders were placed.

As a viewer of the livestream, Tran Huyen, a resident of Thuong Quan Village (Thuong Tin Commune, Hanoi), said that online sales make it easier for consumers to access information about craft village products than traditional promotional methods.

“The businesses provided fairly detailed introductions to their production processes, and local government leaders participated directly, so I felt more confident when choosing the products. If, after the livestream sessions, the products are sold on official e-commerce platforms, shopping will be much more convenient,” Huyen said.

Nguyen Viet Hung, Chairman of the Thuy Ung Horn Comb Craft Village Association, said that the Thuong Tin Commune People's Committee's involvement in organizing the livestream sessions has helped enhance the products' credibility and expand their reach. Hung expressed his hope that the model would be maintained regularly and linked with support for putting products on e-commerce platforms, thereby expanding sales markets and creating more opportunities to reach customers nationwide.

Participating Units

Le Anh Tuan, Head of the Economic Division of Thuong Tin Commune, said that under the plan, the commune People's Committee will maintain one weekly livestream session to introduce OCOP products, craft village products and other signature products.

In recent days, the commune's Economic Division has coordinated the organization of livestream sessions promoting local products and received positive responses from residents. In practice, the model has not only helped products reach more customers but also created opportunities for officials, Youth Union members and young people to play a role in digital transformation and support businesses in adopting modern business methods.

“In the coming period, the commune will continue to expand livestream sessions while supporting businesses in putting their products on e-commerce platforms. The goal is not merely to promote products during individual livestreams but to build stable online sales channels, helping the commune's craft village and OCOP products establish a presence in the digital space and reach more consumers,” Tuan emphasized.

In practice, when local authorities work alongside mass organizations, when each OCOP product gains an additional “digital storefront,” and when businesses master online business skills, the digital economy can be realized through practical and effective models at the local level. This also provides an important foundation for local traditional craft village products to enhance their competitiveness, reach farther in the domestic market and gradually conquer international markets.

Vice Chairman of the Thuong Tin Commune People's Committee Nguyen Van Tan affirmed that, to ensure the program achieves results in terms of views, interactions and orders for products from the 11 traditional craft villages, the commune leadership has assigned specific tasks to agencies, departments and sectors to coordinate with the Economic Division in developing plans for weekly livestream sessions.

Implementation began in August 2026. In the initial phase, four livestream sessions promoting products generated around 150 orders, with revenue from a wide range of craft village products approaching VND200 million. The initial results indicate that the livestream sessions promoting craft village products have delivered practical and tangible effectiveness.

As part of the 100 - day digital transformation campaign, 126 communes and wards across Hanoi have organized livestream sessions to promote OCOP products, craft village products, local specialties, agricultural products, destinations and cultural and tourism events. The city aims to showcase at least 2,000 products and services through these activities.

The 126 communes and wards across Hanoi are organizing livestreams to promote local products as part of the 100-day campaign to develop the digital economy. The initial livestreams have demonstrated the potential of a new trade promotion channel, enabling businesses to directly introduce and advise consumers about their products and interact with them. However, as the activity expands, limitations in human resources, skills and organizational methods have also become apparent, underscoring the need for greater professionalization if livestreaming is to truly become a channel for expanding markets.
